The effect of different Coke particle size on sinter quality has been investigated. Eight different coke particle sizes were chosen and the sinter procedure was performed using them and these qualities were compared with reference sample taken from Isfahan Iron making Company. Other parameters including Iron ore, lime, sintering mixture, particle size and suction condition were kept constant. The thermal profiles were achieved by measuring the temperature in different regions of sintering bed. By these profiles, the maximum temperature was determined. Phase determination and morphology test were carried out on the samples. The results show that the coke size range of 0.212-3.35 mm is optimum as far as the coke combustion rate, maximum temperature, and the flame front speeds are concerned. These lead to the rate of sinter production increase.
