The results of spectroscopy of disordered Tm-doped calcium-niobium- gallium garnets (CNGG) are displayed. Based on the Judd-Ofelt theory, three intensity parameters were obtained. Gain cross-section for laser transition ~3F_4 → ~3H_6 of Tm~(3+) ions was obtained using absorption and emission cross-data for transition ~3H_6 → ~3F_4 and ~3F_4 → ~3H_6 respectively. The laser emission is reported in Tm:CNGG (transition ~3F_4 → ~3H_6) at room temperature with laser diode pumping.
