In the past, we often took western medicine as major measures to treat marine mammals that include False killer whale, Bottlenose dolphins, California sea lions, and Southern American sea lions in our Aquarium . Nevertheless, during the course of treatment, we sometimes encountered difficulties with no known cure. The drug resistance induced by inappropriate use of antibiotics also raised an alarm. About 17 years ago, our Aquarium started trying to adopt Chinese medicine as another alternative to treat animals. Starting 5 years ago, I myself had this opportunity of taking some Tranditional Chinese medicine and its related courses in a nearby community university. I gradually understand the theory of Tranditional Chinese medicine, the properties and the effects of various Chinese medications, the combination of prescriptions and the manufacturing of internal and external medications. I would like to share some clinical experience with everyone.
