Towards a Comprehensive Commercialisation StrategyFor Canada

Canada has an outstanding international reputation for the excellence of its research andrnthe productivity of its scientists. We do less well in translating the ideas, concepts andrnresults of that research, through innovation and commercialisation into products,rnprocesses and services of value in the market place and to society. Major efforts are nowrnunderway to enhance technology transfer and commercialisation by improving access tornearly stage risk financing, enhancing skills development and training, facilitatingrnpartnerships and linkages across the innovation system, developing an attractivernregulatory and tax environment, supporting and growing SMEs and developingrntechnology pull from the market place. This talk will attempt to provide an integratedrnview of the technological innovation – commercialisation cycles and point to keyrninterventions needed for success.
