This paper presents the work accomplished in the IST project CD-MST, the finalrndeliverable of which is a new interactive CD-ROM presenting the world of microsystemsrnto different target groups – from students to venture capitalists.rnThe partners of the project are FSRM - Swiss Foundation for Research inrnMicrotechnology, in Neuchatel, Switzerland, VDI/VDE-IT, in Teltow, Germany, YOLErnDéveloppement, in Lyon, France and mib - génie logiciel, in Neuchatel, Switzerland.rnThe CD-ROM highlights a large number of industrial achievements, the associatedrntechnology and current applications, as well as detailed economic analysis. It containsrnover 250 illustrated screens, many animations and spoken comments and 200 links tornmanufacturers and research organisations.rnThe data on the CD-ROM is of interest to education (engineering students andrnacademics), industry, finance and the media.rnThe main use of the CD-ROM is for education purpose, on account of its pedagogicalrnapproach. Students in microsystem technology can get a realistic overview and arncomplete summary of microsystems technologies and applications. It provides highlyrnvaluable information complementary to that of lectures and books.rnMany professors also use the CD-ROM to illustrate and complete their lectures. A veryrnuseful tool is included to edit dedicated slideshows, in which personal pages can berninserted, with comments and titles.rnFinally, it is of great interest for industry, finance and media, as it shows real industrialrnachievements. Many promotion, interface and technology transfer organisations use thernCD-ROM for promotion purposes, also making use of the slideshow function.
