ISOTOPES FOR COMBINED PET/SPECT IMAGING

Long-standing issues of PET/SPECT imaging with photons from radio isotopes are the artifacts of scattering and/or attenuation of radiation in the medium producing false positive or negative diagnostics. Commonly attempted/suggested approaches are dual energy imaging either by two isotopes, PET/CT or SPECT/CT modalities. The disadvantages of these approaches are a) uncorrelated data b) higher dose c) longer diagnostic times and etc.
