ESTABLISHING WE-INTENTION BETWEEN HUMANS AND MACHINES

摘要

How we can make a cooperative team with machines is the key question in this paper. To answer this question, the philosophical arguments on cooperative activity and group intention will be reviewed that group intention is reducible to a set of individual intentions and beliefs. Based on this theoretical consideration, an argument will be presented that planning, intent inferencing, and mutual responsiveness are the prerequisite abilities to engage in cooperative activity. Secondly, an experimental result was given to show that humans use verbal communication to establish group intention by explicitly announcing covert states or processes of cognition. These abilities are also required to make machines cooperative to humans.
