The noise measurement and localization is an important aspect in the acoustical surveillance technology. In order to localize the target moving through the special region, the acoustic system composed of two identical microphone arrays is designed and used to measure the noise. An algorithm for localization is studied in the paper, and the performance analysis is also presented for target localization. The acoustic wavefronts are modeled with perfect coherence over individual arrays and with frequency-selective coherence between distinct arrays. Cramer-Rao bound (CRB) is studied on target localization accuracy for varying levels of signal coherence between two arrays. Simulation result shows that the target localization accuracy is significantly improved if the coherence is utilized in the target localization processing.
