A data acquisition system has been developed based on TMS320F240S DSP. With high speed and large capacity of real-time processing and special hardware multiplier, the multiplication can be accomplished within an order period. The powerful on-chip peripheral such as dual 10 bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) greatly increased the degree of integration of sampling circuit, decreased the number of discrete devices, improved the acquisition accuracy, enhanced the capability of anti-noise and lowered the cost. The system can be running smoothly even in the environment of intense electromagnetic disturbance such as spark ignition. The system has been used in an engine cylinder block for vibration signal data acquisition. It was used to investigate the vibration of a 6 cylinders diesel engine cylinder block. The acquired data are feed to a computer through serial communication interface (SCI).
