Action and release time of electromagnetic relay are two main in time delay application (timernrelays, programmable time systems) which affects timming and limit output swiching frequency. It isrnnecessary to know time intervals with accuracy to acieve a good timing with minimum errors.rnAutomatic device described by this papers uses an AVR microcontroller to measure action and releaserntiming, the adopted method is about universal counter. Measure accuracy is near ±100 ppm and isrngiven by microcontroler time base. Data results, with or without free running diode are serialrntransmitted to computer, where grafical interface software, done by Visual Basic 6, are processed andrnstored in data base "Acces" type. Grafical interface sets the number of electromagnetic relay on/offrncycle and show the results: minimum and maximum timing, mean timming, etc. For statisticalrnpurposes, data base maded can be easy exported, for example in "Excel" format. After finish testing,rnit is an automatic task. Free running diode of testing electromagnetic relay terminals is an automatedrntask by additional electromagnetic relay wich is driven by microcontroller using serial comunication.
