In the past, the formula of temperature field was obtained by regression analysis of the data measured the radiant heat of sun, but only several observatory can measure these data. Based on observing the earth temperature data day by day for two years, this paper succeeds in regression analysis of temperature field with the earth temperature data which can be easily obtained in county observatory. Based on a two years field testing with electric technology, an elliptic model with the data of slab temperature and that of thermal strain is applied to calculate the maximum thermal stress in the pavement. Based on the result of this analysis, the expansion joints were not eliminated in the pavement of four airports. These airports are being used from five to eleven years, no problem is occurred. These successful experiences give abundant foundations in practice and theory so that the pavement without expansion joint can be widely used in airport pavement or its overlay to avoid damage in the expansion joint.
