摘要

A pavement profiler was developed in last few years to measure pavement longitudinal profile and obtain roughness indices. The profiler is operated at a walking speed. After being implemented in Tampa, Florida, USA, field experiments were performed to evaluate whether the profiler can obtain pavement profile and result in roughness indices with reasonable quality performance. A leveling instrument (rod and level) was used as a standard reference for the field evaluation. From the evaluation results, it was found that the profiler showed satisfactory performance in terms of accuracy, repeatability, and correlativity. It was concluded that the profiler can be used in pavement roughness evaluation and quality control for pavement surface construction quality acceptance. The profiler can also be used as a standard reference for calibration of other pavement roughness measuring systems.
