In order to visualize the phenomenon of roasting of Molybdenite (MoS_2) in a fluidized bed, a mathematical model based on two phase theory of fluidization is proposed. The effects of some important varibles including, temperature, time, particle size andinlet gas veloicty are studied. To evaluate the results obtained by the proposed model, a pilotscaled fluidized bed reactor was erected. The percent conversion of the reation predicted by the model, is compared with the corresponding value measured from the pilot-scaled fluidized bed roaster. Good agreement was observed between these values.
