The problem of joint channel estimation, equalizationrnand multiuser detection for a multi-antenna Direct-SequencernCode Division Multiple Access (DS/CDMA) system operatingrnover a frequency selective fading channel and adopting long aperiodicrnspreading codes is considered in this paper. First of all,rnwe present several channel estimation and multiuser data detectionrnschemes suited for multi-antenna long-code DS/CDMA systems.rnThen, a multi-pass strategy, wherein the data detection andrnthe channel estimation procedures exchange information in a recursivernfashion, is introduced and analyzed for the proposed scenario.rnSpace-time coded systems are also considered, and it isrnshown that the multi-pass strategy provides excellent results forrnsuch systems also. The validity of the proposed procedure is corroboratedrnby both simulation results and analytical u0002ndings onrnthe channel estimation mean square error.
