We propose a finite impulse response (FIR) minimumrnmean squared error (MMSE) decision feedback equalizerrn(DFE) for orthogonal multipulse modulated signals receivedrnthrough a multipath channel. Our system model accounts forrnboth the loss of orthogonality caused by the multipath channelrnas well as intersymbol interference (ISI). First, we review previousrnwork on the subject which used the zero-forcing criterion underrnstrict assumptions about the channel and equalizer lengths.rnThen, we derive a computationally efficient MMSE equalizerrnwhich removes these restrictions, and is suitable for use withrnstochastic gradient descent algorithms. Finally, we demonstraternthe performance of the proposed equalizer with simulations.
