@@ Study sites were located in the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG, 21°54'N, IO1°46'E), near the monitoring plots of the Chinese Ecological Research Network supported by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Average annual temperature in the region is 21.8°C with a mean annual precipitation of 1493 mm(Zhang 1963, Cao et al. 2006). We conducted this study in a rubber plantation (RP) and seasonal rain forest (SRF) on a lateritic soil (Oxisol) developed from arenaceous shale sediments (Wang et al. 1996).
