摘要

In this paper, the effects of the micro-vibration of diamond tools on machined surfaces at nanometer level roughness are investigated using 3D molecular dynamics simulation models. It shows that the micro-vibration of a diamond tool in the cutting direction is beneficial for achieving high quality surfaces. However, the surfaces and sub-surfaces generated are damaged when the micro-vibration occurs in the direction of depth of cut. The vibration frequency has much more effect on the surface roughness than the vibration amplitude does.
