PYROLYSIS OF SEWAGE SLUDGE AND MANURE IN A BATCH STIRRED REACTOR

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of co-pyrolysis of sewage sludge and manure asrna potential management technology for these residues. This work is a preliminary study mainly focused on productrnyields (solid, liquid and gas), their compositions and heating values. Pyrolysis of sludge/manure mixture (50%-50%)rnwas performed at 525 ℃ in a stirred batch reactor under N_2 atmosphere. The product yields and some characteristicsrnof the products were analysed and compared to the results obtained in the pyrolysis of pure residues. According to thernresults obtained in this work, the addition of 50% of sewage sludge to manure enhances the pyrolysis liquid fuelrnapplications and worsens the char fuel applications.
