A Retrospect on the Travelling Characteristics of Chinese Urban Residents Under the Current Holiday System——An Empirical Study Based on the Cluster Analysis

The current holiday system is exerting a stronger impact on the travelling of Chinese urban residents, which shall in turn directly influence the decision-making of the tourism administration and enterprises. Therefore, the author conducted a special research on the choosing of the travelling time, transportation means and travelling will of the Chinese urban residents via the cluster analysis method. This research shows that the urban residents travel more, but their needs in medium and long-distance travelling are restrained. During the traditional holidays, the tourism enterprises should pay more attention to the launching of specialty products and innovation; the data from this research shows that the Golden Week is still valuable and irreplaceable under the current holiday system. Therefore, the relevant government authorities should make great efforts in maintaining the safety and order during the Golden Week to protect the interests of tourists.
