A novel nanofiltration membrane containing SiO2nanoparticles prepared with poly(amidoamine)(PAMAM) dendrimer and trimesoyl chloride (TMC) by interfacial polymerization on polysulfone (PSF)ultrafiltration membrane was investigated. The PA-SiO2membrane was measured using FESEM, XPS, andcontact angle of the water, which were employed to characterize the chemical and physical properties. Theaddition of SiO2in the skin layer increased roughness and decreased the contact angle when the content ofnanoparticles didn’t exceed 2%(wt.) in the aqueous solution. The change of roughness and contact angle bothcontribute to increase pure water flux of the nanofiltration. The flux of PA-SiO2was higher than that of neatPA membrane but the rejection rate has the reverse tendency when testing with Na2SO4solution. The rejectionrate decreased with an increase of salt concentration, while flux were proportional to the operating pressure.The resultant PA-SiO2displays good performance of permeation and retention rate of salt solution.
