This paper aims at defining the present state of architecture by five concepts. The five concepts-Assemblage, Capacity, Negotiation, Hybrid and Topology-are all mutually interrelated.The relations are not a simple combinatory but rather relations in which each concept explains certain aspects of the other concepts. Being interrelated in this way they make up what the philosopher Gilles Deleuze calls "a plane of consistency". Making up a plane of consistency the selected concepts will not only enable us to grasp the specificity of the present, and the difference from the past. But more importantly they will reveal the potentials for making new kinds of projects-which ultimately means projecting ourselves into the future.
